Given Social Enterprise Scotland’s (SES) new role as the representative body for social enterprises in Scotland, the SES Board are looking to recruit a number of new Directors to further strengthen the organisation.
SES were delighted with the alignment of the Transition Group’s recommendations that SES “should set in motion a process to refresh its Board so that it reflects the social enterprise movement in Scotland and emphasises the importance of representation by front line social enterprises.”
To that end the Board are embarking upon this process by recruiting a new Chair, from within the membership to lead the Board.
The new Chair will develop the Board and identify and harness new opportunities arising from the evolution to the Single Enhanced Intermediary.
In order to promote an inclusive approach, they have introduced a potential stipend to support accessibility and to attract applications from a diverse range of candidates. The successful applicant would be expected to spend around three to four days a month on Social Enterprise Scotland business and they are cognisant that offering remuneration will ensure we are not excluding anybody who may otherwise be interested. Activities will include Chairing four board meetings each year, whilst also representing the Board at meetings, conferences and events. The initial term of appointment is four years.
Applications will close on 27 November, with interviews expected to take place in the week beginning 5 December.
This is an exciting time to join our Board of Directors as its new Chair as they seek to embrace new opportunities; SES are keen to hear from anyone who believes they fit the requirements to help them champion the sector in Scotland.
