Community Wealth Building: Making It Work for Our Places

Organised by: What We Do Now (WWDN)

9:30-16:30

Old School Thornhill, Station Road, Thornhill, DG3 5DF

Labs are national events for people, groups, and organisations to come together and discuss agendas across creative placemaking and support collaboration across what we all do.

This first network Lab will focus on Community Wealth Building (CWB), using our local economies and natural resources to ensure that our collective wealth works better for people, place, and planet, digging deep into what this looks like and requires at a neighbourhood scale.

Overview

Through the lens of creative placemaking we will take a whole place approach to exploring CWB themes:

  • How can communities be more involved in the management of land and natural resources?
  • How would a community focused economy benefit local people?
  • What are the skills and jobs of the future that our communities need to support change?
  • What types of local decision-making and groups are most beneficial to building community wealth?

Join WWDN for a day of workshops and discussion with speakers from across the fields of economy, geography, and creative innovation to look at examples of CWB and what that looks like within communities.
