‘Urban design foresight for resilient cities’ Lectures and workshop

An excellent speaker programme with experts from climate science and communication, urban design, spatial planning, foresight and community participation.

Help to build a community of practice to explore urban design strategies for nature-based solutions and blue-green scenario planning.

Overview

A keynote from Dr Natalie Garrett, Scientific Manager, Met Office (UK) will present Delivering Climate Change Services at Scale’, Stephen Willacy Architect + Urbanism (DK) will present international case studies – from grey to green & blue,  Kevin Murray, Kevin Murray Associates (UK) will present Urban Foresight and Scenario Planning, and Gillian Dick, Glasgow City Council (UK) will present on Resilience Cities and Ecosystems.

In the afternoon our Community of Practice Working Group will take the concept of “Urban design foresight for resilient cities”  and host a workshop to explore questions, such as:

  • the increasing environmental stresses in urban areas and inequalities in access to greenspace and ecosystem services.
  • the important role of citizen-powered science in supplementing conventional planning approaches and fostering collaboration.
  • Integration of local insights and city data to enhance planning methods and raise awareness in local communities
