The Tannahill Centre is a community-run hub in the centre of Ferguslie Park. Accessible to the whole community it has a Doctors Surgery, NHS Clinic, Pharmacy, Library, Nursery and Post Office. The Centre also directly manages a number of community spaces and a community café.
They have recently been awarded funding from Young Start to sustain a pilot project delivered in partnership with youth empowerment charity YoMo. As such are currently looking for a Youth Development Worker to join and take the lead in embedding youth empowerment values, principles and approaches into the work of the Tannahill Centre.
Youth Development Worker, 21 hours per week
£24,154 – £25,840 (pro-rata to £14,492 – £15,504)
The Youth Development worker will recruit and support young people to design, develop and deliver projects and services that enable them to develop skills, knowledge and confidence whilst taking an active role in their community. The Youth Development Worker will work alongside YoMo to embed a number of their approaches into the work of the Tannahill Centre, including the Youth Achievement Awards, peer education and youth empowerment.
This role will suit a self-starter who has substantial experience in youth work or community development, group dynamics and facilitation skills. The successful candidate will be comfortable developing and sourcing training and capable of providing support to young people in planning and delivering community activities.
This role is funded for three years.
