During the Covid-19 response there has been some areas of need identified through a survey undertaken by Govan Thriving Places. Some of these areas will hopefully be funded through the £200k response fund currently open to applications through Linthouse HA.
However, there still seems to be a need for some more hands-on support. For this reason we are aiming to use the Govan Volunteer Bank website to promote any short-term volunteering opportunities available through your organisation. This could be simple tasks like making up food parcels, helping to deliver food, volunteers with vans etc. that can collect and transport goods, volunteers to help ensure social distancing guidelines are followed at food distribution points or more in-depth tasks for skilled volunteers like digital support, information sharing, app building, handy men etc.
Having a one-stop-shop for anyone interested in volunteering throughout this period means any enquiries from potential volunteers can be directed to the one place.
If you have any volunteering opportunities that you could offer that would enhance or increase the support your organisation can provide please send them over directly to me and I will upload each opportunity on to the Govan Volunteer Bank website and get the info shared out through everyone’s preferred communication channels.
Information and requirements:
- Your organisations details and key contact person including the best method for interested parties to contact you.
- The volunteer role and requirements. Also include the number of hours they will be required to commit.
- Ensure that your organisation has appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as gloves, masks, eye protection and access to sanitiser and hand washing.
- A robust risk assessment has been undertaken for the task(s) involved.
The website will encourage anyone interested to contact you directly. Once you have enough volunteers the opportunity can be taken down from the website.
